Xandoo is the second oldest planet settled by the Imperium and, by modern standards, is outside the acceptable range of colonization requirements. It’s a smaller world with a lower gravity and a thinner atmosphere. One third of planet is covered in a shallow, salty ocean. Most of Xandoo is is arid scrublands and dune deserts with a small green belt of temperate forest near the equator. Adding to the planet’s harshness are the vast temperature changes between night and day and huge dust storms that it brings.
Despite this adversity, Xandoo has become one of the primary worlds of higher learning in the Imperium. It was named after one of the greatest mages in Imperium history since the Mage Wars and one of the original settlers. The mage Xandoo, after his work to colonize Jewel, ask the Emperor to allow him to found a world of his own so that he might retire in peace. Emperor granted the request and Xandoo was founded.
Sadly, shortly after his arrival on the planet of his namesake, Xandoo died of old age, but was happy to see the creation of the College of Astral Sciences founded at the base of Mount Heaven. Since then, students of Xandoo have carried on in his tradition and help advance the Imperium’s ability to expand to new worlds.
